Important Message

Following on from our AGM which took place Last night, Wednesday 22nd November 2017 and after Communication with the management of Selwyn Jones Sports Centre, Newton, over the last 6 months, It has been decided that we are to cease archery from the end of November at the Selwyn Jones venue.
The main reason behind this decision is the fact that Mersyside Council are putting in place, plans to re-develop the site at Selwyn Jones. The management at Selwyn Jones are unsure as to the exact date that renovations are due to start but they have indicated that the sometime during December is highly possible and that we would have final notice of their intentions before Mid November. They are unsure that if after renovations, they will have availability for Ye Olde Delph to participate in indoor archery.
As we stand at this moment in time, we have now passed all dates given to us for their notice period, and have had to, as you are mostly aware, locate an alternative venue to continue our indoor shooting, this is where Haydock High School’s sports hall comes into the equation. We have over the last several months been open to members of the Ye Olde Delph and the NFAS on a trial basis to see if the venue is suitable for our needs. This has proved a positive venue for many of our members, and as such we will now be opening it up as our main venue for indoor shooting.
Currently, archery takes place at Haydock on a Thursday evening from 8pm until approximately 9.45 pm, and costs £3 per adult member and £1.50 per junior member to shoot there. Costs for non members are £6 per night. This venue offers shooting of up to 30 yd which is double the distance shot at Selwyn and can offer every archer that little bit of a challenge. We understand, that as soon as a Friday evening session becomes available then we will be first in the queue to put our name down for it as this is the preferred day most members have voiced their availability for, but until then, we have to settle with Thursday evenings.
There is still the venue at Bewsey in Warrington, which is available for any member to shoot at.
Haydock will soon be open for Trainees to attend under instruction from our coaching staff once we have been able to move all of our equipment over from Selwyn, and all members will be notified of this by email.
The last night of shooting at Selwyn Jones sports centre will be Friday 24th November 2017 and  equipment will be removed by then end of the following week.
The years final “members Indoor league shoot” will be held at Haydock on Thursday 14th December with presentation of certificates for all those who have taken part over the last 12 months. Distances will be kept the same as at Selwyn Jones’s shoots for the final round, to keep it fair to all members.
Thank you all for your time, and if you have any questions regarding anything above, then please do not hesitate to contact myself or the club secretary Gus, and we will endeavour to assist you in any way possible.
Take care
Chris Jordan
Chairman
Ye Olde Delph Bowmen.

Congratulations to Gus for winning American Flatbow at the National Championships 2017
